The Roman Catholic Church in The Bahamas is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope. The diocese was elevated to a full diocese, as the diocese of Nassau in June 1960. On June 22nd, 1999, the diocese was again elevated as the new Archdiocese of Nassau.

Lenten Mission 2010 - "A year of favor from the Lord"

Come on out this year to the Catholic Archdiocese's Citywide Lenten Mission, under the theme "A year of favor from the Lord" Isaiah 61:2.

Last year's 2009 Lenten Mission, will be forever engraved in the minds and hearts of many as guest speaker "Deacon Harold Burke Sivers" deeply touched many with his spirit-filled message of God's love.

Catholic Evangelist Tom Edwards; "host" of this year's Lenten Mission is expected to bring down the house as his goal is to always allow the Living Word of God to become applicable to one's life today.

The Mission will be held Monday, Feb 22nd to Friday, Feb 26th at 7:00pm nightly at Loyola Hall, Glastone Rd.

Check with your local Parish as a bus service to and from the hall may be provided. See you there.


Night 1 - The Personal Touch
Night 2 - Personal Conversion and Repentence
Night 3 - Forgiveness
Night 4 - Yield to Yield

Also during the week of the City Wide Lenten Mission a "Special Lenten Midday Reflection" with be held at Sacred Heart Church. Fr Eugene Hensell, OSB a monk of St. Meinrad Abbey will give a series of meditations on the Passion of the Lord from the four Gospels.

These meditations will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Shirley St daily 22nd - 26th Feb between 12:10pm and 12:50pm. A boxed lunch will be provided for participants.
