Closure of two schools by end of 2010 school year

With the downturn in today's economy the Catholic Board of Education was faced with an unfortunate decision to close two of it's Catholic Schools within the country.

Holy Name Primary school in Bailey Town, Bimini and St Anne's Primary school in Rock Sound, Eleuthera will be closing it's doors by the end of the 2010 school year. Catholic Board of Education director "Ms Claudette Rolle" states that  more than 100 students per school are required in order for the sustainability of the schools. At present there are only about 60 plus students at each school.

In addition to the close of the schools in Bimini and Eleuthera,; St Vincent De Paul's Catholic School in Lewis Yard Grand Bahama will also be closing it's doors after several years thus far of phasing out the school.

The affected teachers and clerical staff members will be dispersed between Grand Bahama and New Providence.
