The Roman Catholic Church in The Bahamas is part of the worldwide Roman Catholic Church, under the spiritual leadership of the Pope. The diocese was elevated to a full diocese, as the diocese of Nassau in June 1960. On June 22nd, 1999, the diocese was again elevated as the new Archdiocese of Nassau.

Newly Elected President of AEC

The 55th Annual General Meeting of the Antilles Episcopal Conference (AEC) was held in Bridgetown Barbados between 8th - 14th May, 2011.

During the meeting many concerns that impact upon the Church and society were addressed including "natual disasters", "catholic education", "youth ministry", and "vocations" in the region.

Further, the meeting went on to elect new officers. Archbishop Patrick C. Pinder of the Archdiocese of Nassau, was elected President, to succeed the outgoing President Archbishop Donald J. Reece of the Archdiocese of Kingston, Jamaica.
