Tropical Storm Emily has its eye on The Bahamas

In most cases the weather experts can give more than one tracking prediction for a storm, however this time around there is only one for Tropical Storm Emily. The fifth name storm of the 2011 Atlantic hurricane season has already left rain in parts of the Caribbean islands and now has its eye set on The Bahamas.
Before reaching the islands of The Bahamas, the storm will pass over Haiti, the island still trying to rebuild from last year's devastating earthquake. Many people on that island are still displaced with nowhere to turn for shelter.

We cannot stop praying for our nation to be speared from storms and hurricanes as we have had our prayers answered and our country blessed during the last few years to have not been dealt with a major catastrophic disaster. As indicated by Archbishop Pinder's message to the community regarding the hurricane season, we must begin to prepare promptly and not wait until the last minute.

Let's not assume that because the forecasters are not predicting the storm to strengthen to hurricane status when it arrives us that we can put our guard down as if we are in the clear. Having faith and trust is one thing, but being negligent and unprepared of the known is foolish. The weather experts have been given the gifts, knowledge and expertise to help keep us safe, but we as a nation must still be smart and prepare for the unexpected. I would prefer to be over prepared than under prepared. You then become a burden to family, Church and self by putting yourself in harms way.

Think about this for a moment; would you cross a busy four lane traffic street without first looking to ensure that it is safe before taking that first step on the road?  Even Jesus when asked by satan to throw himself off the cliff (telling him that the Angels will lift him up) refused as he will not give in to satan's temptation. He did not need satan to tell Him that He would be rescued.

The storm has formed and is tracking towards us. Continue to pray and believe in Jesus, knowing that He will protect The Bahamas from harmful destruction, but we should also be wise and not foolish when presented with credible information.

"You shall not put the Lord, your God, to the test."
