There are moments in your life that you will remember forever. One such moment for me was meeting your grandmother. I remeber fondly her words as she came out to greet us "Oh look at my people". What impressed me about her, was her very gentle spirit. Everyone we met spoke so highly of her and, when we did finally get to meet her I knew we were meeting a beautiful christian. Her spirit spoke to mine and when I took the photograph I hoped that I would capture that. I believe I have.

In working on the "Years of Favour" project, Long Island was the first Family Island trip that we made and it felt as though we had gone home.

We were treated as if we had come home by everyone we met. Fr Fanning was wonderful -- driving us up and down and all over the place and fixing a wonderful Bahamian meal for us on our last day.

That trip and the people we met in Long Island are a memory we will always cherish.

I do remember cooking up a batch of mac and cheese with goat pepper for that occasion... I'll have to come back to the Bahamas just to get a copy of the book! Wow. Here in Rome, all traffic is gone and folks are home with one another. I know that there are folks that have to work (i.e. medical, hotels...) but I think IF you can be home, it is a signal to the world that there are more important things in life, like each other, and of course, the good Lord. It's like a moment in the busy year when things seem a little bit saner, and the world stops to breathe. God bless your Christmastide! :)

Mr. Knowles, this is an excellent and timely piece! I do agree that it is each Catholic's responsibility to education himself or herself about what they need to know as it relates to their faith and their existence. I, too, am a product of Catholic education from primary to the tertiary, and I thank God for such an opportunity, but even with a Catholic schooling, the myriad of our faith is only understood deeply when we take personal owhership of life-long learning! May we seek the Light of Christ as we wander through the 'market place.' The noise is deafening because too few of us take the time to quiet our minds amidst this turmoil and lean on the Promises of Our Lord and the wonderful gifts found within our Church that has sustained our people throughout the centuries. This includes the power of God's Presence among us in the Eucharist, the power of the intercession of Our Blessed Mother, the intercession of the saints, Lectio Divina and other elements. We may all seek the same Lord and His Spirit guides us through 'ordinary' means to an extraordinary finale. May we all be blessed and humbled enough to 'hear the call to be set apart. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for the Jew first, and then Greek. For in it revealed the rightrousness of God from faith to faith as it is written, The one who is righteous by faith, will live." (Romans 1:16-17)

The production last evening was wonderful. The students of Aquinas College did an excellent job in both the musical and dramatic performances. Well done students!

As I reside n the Cayman Islands, I will be unable to attend this event.

I was privileged to have been a member
of the staff at Aquinas College when a
great many outstanding musical offerings were presented, including the Student Prince, and others.

The upcoming event will deservedly honour the memory of the genius of Andrew Curry.

His efforts at Aquinas College brought out the inherent talent in many of the Aquinas students.The drive and dedication displayed by
Andrew was mirrored in the performers who sacrificed,sometimes
begrudgingly,hours of personal time at night, on weekends,and even during holiday breaks.

The resulting productions were such that I have not seen their equal anywhere else during my lengthy career in the Caribbean.

Mr.Curry was a hard taskmaster who believed in tough love.

Much credit is also due to his entire family for the support of all types which they provided to
ensure the success of these productions.

Although I demonstrated an extraordinary lack of ability in any
creative area during this time, I thoroughly enjoyed simply being part of the group.I retain many fond memories of the challenges which were met with respect to costumes, scenery,and the million
and one other problems which were met headon and overcome.

I only hope that a recording of the
upcoming presentation will be produced,and that I will be able to
purchase a copy.

I send greetings to the past and present faculty of Aquinas,and to all other members of the Aquinas
"family".

Hey Kevan;

I just read your mothers day article, and sounds like you are right on target. I am in awe of mothers in general, who love, unconditionally, forgive unconditionally, protect, guard and guide their children unconditionally. I was, as you, very fortunate to be gifted with parents that were there, ALWAYS, through thick & thin. A shoulder to cry on, the loudest cheer leaders during school events, the best cooks in the world, every thing we wore, ironed, and clean...Moms are truely a blessing...however, my dad was also a large rock as well. Keep up the great work my friend.
